About Us

We are a network organisation providing a communication platform for catchment groups in South Devon to profile their activities through the biannual South Devon River Voices digital magazine, the monthly River Voices e-newsletter and the River Discovery Zone marquee at the Devon County Show.

South Devon River Champions was inspired by the Rivers Assembly organised by Sustainable South Hams CIC which showcased the many Specialist Organisations and community Catchment Groups engaged in work which enables wildlife to thrive in our catchment and our rivers to be clean.

Our Catchment Groups

South Devon River Champions is more than a directory of stakeholders. It is an opportunity for catchment community groups to build their membership, share experience, concerns and devise community-owned strategies that restore clean rivers. It encourages cooperation between our parish councils for a catchment focussed environmental plan that protects our rivers and allows wildlife to flourish.  It fosters a welcoming, inclusive forum for farmer-to-farmer discussions, inter-parish cooperation, community engagement, lifestyle adaptation and the celebration of wildlife in our catchments through fun activities and festivals.

Action Packed

Recruiting Citizen Scientists for Westcountry Rivers Trust to monitor water quality; assisting landowners with  conservation work; creating awareness of the impact of over-development and poor waste management on sewage in our rivers; identifying ways to create less pollution and celebrating the beauty of South Devon at festivals and exhibitions.
